{"id":1973,"date":"2013-01-13T13:08:35","date_gmt":"2013-01-13T13:08:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.matsati.com\/?p=1973"},"modified":"2013-01-13T20:32:05","modified_gmt":"2013-01-13T20:32:05","slug":"bits-of-torah-truths-parashat-bo-trust-in-the-lord-to-change-our-hearts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.matsati.com\/index.php\/bits-of-torah-truths-parashat-bo-trust-in-the-lord-to-change-our-hearts\/","title":{"rendered":"Bits of Torah Truths, Parashat Bo, Trust in the Lord to change our hearts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This weeks reading is from Parashat Bo (<em>Shemot \/ Exodus 10:1-13:16<\/em>), which details the final plagues God brought upon Egypt.\u00a0 The Lord tells Moshe <span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u05d0\u00a0\u00a0 \u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05bc\u05b9\u05d0\u05de\u05b6\u05e8 \u05d9\u05b0\u05d4\u05d5\u05b9\u05b8\u05d4 \u05d0\u05b6\u05dc-\u05de\u05b9\u05e9\u05c1\u05b6\u05d4 \u05d1\u05bc\u05b9\u05d0 \u05d0\u05b6\u05dc-\u05e4\u05bc\u05b7\u05e8\u05b0\u05e2\u05b9\u05d4 \u05db\u05bc\u05b4\u05d9-\u05d0\u05b2\u05e0\u05b4\u05d9 \u05d4\u05b4\u05db\u05b0\u05d1\u05bc\u05b7\u05d3\u05b0\u05ea\u05bc\u05b4\u05d9 \u05d0\u05b6\u05ea-\u05dc\u05b4\u05d1\u05bc\u05d5\u05b9 \u05d5\u05b0\u05d0\u05b6\u05ea-\u05dc\u05b5\u05d1 \u05e2\u05b2\u05d1\u05b8\u05d3\u05b8\u05d9\u05d5 \u05dc\u05b0\u05de\u05b7\u05e2\u05b7\u05df \u05e9\u05c1\u05b4\u05ea\u05b4\u05d9 \u05d0\u05b9\u05ea\u05b9\u05ea\u05b7\u05d9 \u05d0\u05b5\u05dc\u05bc\u05b6\u05d4 \u05d1\u05bc\u05b0\u05e7\u05b4\u05e8\u05b0\u05d1\u05bc\u05d5\u05b9:\u00a0<\/span> <em>10:1 Then the Lord said to Moses, \u2018Go to Pharaoh, for I have hardened his heart and the heart of his servants, that I may perform these signs of Mine among them, (NASB)<\/em> In the midst of all that is happening, we read the Lord working in the hearts of men for the purpose of showing that He is Lord of all.\u00a0 The Lord brings the plague of locust (<em>10:3-19<\/em>), three days of darkness (<em>10:22-23<\/em>), and finally the death of the first born of both man and beast (<em>10:24-11:10<\/em>).\u00a0 The deliverance of Israel marks the beginning of months of God\u2019s appointed times (His Moedim).\u00a0 To prevent the death of the first born, the blood of the lamb that was slain is spread upon the door posts of the house, and the flesh of the lamb is to be eaten till morning with cloths on, sandals on our feet, and staff in hand, this is the Lord\u2019s Pesach (<em>Passover, 12:1-25<\/em>).\u00a0 The blood will be a sign for the angel of death to \u201cpass over\u201d the house and the Passover is to be remembered as a feast to the Lord and the power of God to deliver His people.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: large;\">\u05db\u05ea\u05d1\u05d9 \u05d4\u05e7\u05d5\u05d3\u05e9 \/ The Holy Scriptures\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right; after that he will let you go from here. When he lets you go, he will surely drive you out from here completely.\u00a0 11:2 \u2018Speak now in the hearing of the people that each man ask from his neighbor and each woman from her neighbor for articles of silver and articles of gold.\u2019\u00a0 11:3 The Lord gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians. Furthermore, the man Moses himself was greatly esteemed in the land of Egypt, both in the sight of Pharaoh&#8217;s servants and in the sight of the people.\u00a0 11:4 Moses said, \u2018Thus says the Lord, &#8216;About midnight I am going out into the midst of Egypt,\u00a0 11:5 and all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of the Pharaoh who sits on his throne, even to the firstborn of the slave girl who is behind the millstones; all the firstborn of the cattle as well.\u00a0\u00a0 (NASB)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In this week\u2019s reading, God speaks to Moshe saying there will be one more plague that will be brought upon Egypt.\u00a0 The plague will be so horrible that when the people ask for gold and silver, their Egyptian neighbors will give them what they ask and send them away.\u00a0 The Scriptures say the Lord will give Israel favor in the eyes of the Egyptians.\u00a0 Following the passover, the Scriptures say <span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u05dc\u05d5\u00a0\u00a0 \u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05d4\u05b9\u05d5\u05b8\u05d4 \u05e0\u05b8\u05ea\u05b7\u05df \u05d0\u05b6\u05ea-\u05d7\u05b5\u05df \u05d4\u05b8\u05e2\u05b8\u05dd \u05d1\u05bc\u05b0\u05e2\u05b5\u05d9\u05e0\u05b5\u05d9 \u05de\u05b4\u05e6\u05b0\u05e8\u05b7\u05d9\u05b4\u05dd \u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05bc\u05b7\u05e9\u05c1\u05b0\u05d0\u05b4\u05dc\u05d5\u05bc\u05dd \u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05b0\u05e0\u05b7\u05e6\u05bc\u05b0\u05dc\u05d5\u05bc \u05d0\u05b6\u05ea-\u05de\u05b4\u05e6\u05b0\u05e8\u05b8\u05d9\u05b4\u05dd:<\/span> <em>12:36 and the Lord had given the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they let them have their request. Thus they plundered the Egyptians.
