{"id":1954,"date":"2013-01-06T12:36:17","date_gmt":"2013-01-06T12:36:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.matsati.com\/?p=1954"},"modified":"2013-01-06T12:36:17","modified_gmt":"2013-01-06T12:36:17","slug":"bits-of-torah-truths-parashat-vaera-deliverance-from-sin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.matsati.com\/index.php\/bits-of-torah-truths-parashat-vaera-deliverance-from-sin\/","title":{"rendered":"Bits of Torah Truths, Parashat Va&#8217;era, Deliverance from Sin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This weeks reading is from Parashat Va\u2019era (<em>Shemot \/ Exodus 6:2-9:35<\/em>), Moshe performs miracles before Pharaoh and all of Egypt.\u00a0 In <em>Shemot \/ Bereshit 6:4<\/em> the Lord reminds Moshe of the covenant promise to his fathers saying <span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u05d3\u00a0\u00a0 \u05d5\u05b0\u05d2\u05b7\u05dd \u05d4\u05b2\u05e7\u05b4\u05de\u05b9\u05ea\u05b4\u05d9 \u05d0\u05b6\u05ea-\u05d1\u05bc\u05b0\u05e8\u05b4\u05d9\u05ea\u05b4\u05d9 \u05d0\u05b4\u05ea\u05bc\u05b8\u05dd \u05dc\u05b8\u05ea\u05b5\u05ea \u05dc\u05b8\u05d4\u05b6\u05dd \u05d0\u05b6\u05ea-\u05d0\u05b6\u05e8\u05b6\u05e5 \u05db\u05bc\u05b0\u05e0\u05b8\u05e2\u05b7\u05df \u05d0\u05b5\u05ea \u05d0\u05b6\u05e8\u05b6\u05e5 \u05de\u05b0\u05d2\u05bb\u05e8\u05b5\u05d9\u05d4\u05b6\u05dd \u05d0\u05b2\u05e9\u05c1\u05b6\u05e8-\u05d2\u05bc\u05b8\u05e8\u05d5\u05bc \u05d1\u05b8\u05d4\u05bc:<\/span>\u00a0 <em>6:4 \u2018I also established My covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land in which they sojourned. (NASB)<\/em>\u00a0 God tells Moshe and Aaron to go and bring the sons of Yisrael out of the land of Egypt.\u00a0 The Lord says He will harden Pharaoh\u2019s heart so that He can deliver Israel from bondage by a mighty hand (<em>7:1-4<\/em>).\u00a0 Moshe goes before Pharaoh and performs the sign of the serpent staff (<em>7:8-10<\/em>) and Pharaoh hardens his heart (<em>7:11-14<\/em>).\u00a0 The Nile River is turned to blood (<em>7:15-24<\/em>), the plague of frogs (<em>8:1-15<\/em>), and the swarms of insects (<em>8:16-31<\/em>), Pharaoh again hardened his heart.\u00a0 The livestock are stricken and caused to die (<em>9:1-7<\/em>).\u00a0 Boils break out on all of the Egyptians and Pharaoh\u2019s heart was hardened again (<em>9:8-17<\/em>).\u00a0 It is the plague of hail mingled with fire (<em>9:18-35<\/em>) that finally gets Pharaoh to admit that he has sinned before God.\u00a0 <em>9:27 Then Pharaoh sent for Moses and Aaron, and said to them, \u2018I have sinned this time; the Lord is the righteous one, and I and my people are the wicked ones.\u00a0 9:28 \u2018Make supplication to the Lord, for there has been enough of God\u2019s thunder and hail; and I will let you go, and you shall stay no longer.\u2019 (NASB)<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><em><strong>\u05db\u05ea\u05d1\u05d9 \u05d4\u05e7\u05d5\u05d3\u05e9 \/ The Holy Scriptures<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right; padding-left: 30px;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u05e1\u05e4\u05e8 \u05e9\u05de\u05d5\u05ea \u05e4\u05e8\u05e7 \u05d7<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium;\"> \u05d9\u05d0\u00a0\u00a0 \u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05bc\u05b7\u05e8\u05b0\u05d0 \u05e4\u05bc\u05b7\u05e8\u05b0\u05e2\u05b9\u05d4 \u05db\u05bc\u05b4\u05d9 \u05d4\u05b8\u05d9\u05b0\u05ea\u05b8\u05d4 \u05d4\u05b8\u05e8\u05b0\u05d5\u05b8\u05d7\u05b8\u05d4 \u05d5\u05b0\u05d4\u05b7\u05db\u05b0\u05d1\u05bc\u05b5\u05d3 \u05d0\u05b6\u05ea-\u05dc\u05b4\u05d1\u05bc\u05d5\u05b9 \u05d5\u05b0\u05dc\u05b9\u05d0 \u05e9\u05c1\u05b8\u05de\u05b7\u05e2 \u05d0\u05b2\u05dc\u05b5\u05d4\u05b6\u05dd \u05db\u05bc\u05b7\u05d0\u05b2\u05e9\u05c1\u05b6\u05e8 \u05d3\u05bc\u05b4\u05d1\u05bc\u05b6\u05e8 \u05d9\u05b0\u05d4\u05d5\u05b9\u05b8\u05d4<\/span>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong><em>Shemot \/ Exodus 8:15<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<em> 8:15 But when Pharaoh saw that there was relief, he hardened his heart and did not listen to them, as the Lord had said. (NASB)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>According to the Scriptures we read Pharaoh\u2019s response, <span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u05d9\u05d0\u00a0\u00a0 \u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05bc\u05b7\u05e8\u05b0\u05d0 \u05e4\u05bc\u05b7\u05e8\u05b0\u05e2\u05b9\u05d4 \u05db\u05bc\u05b4\u05d9 \u05d4\u05b8\u05d9\u05b0\u05ea\u05b8\u05d4 \u05d4\u05b8\u05e8\u05b0\u05d5\u05b8\u05d7\u05b8\u05d4 \u05d5\u05b0\u05d4\u05b7\u05db\u05b0\u05d1\u05bc\u05b5\u05d3 \u05d0\u05b6\u05ea-\u05dc\u05b4\u05d1\u05bc\u05d5\u05b9 \u05d5\u05b0\u05dc\u05b9\u05d0 \u05e9\u05c1\u05b8\u05de\u05b7\u05e2 \u05d0\u05b2\u05dc\u05b5\u05d4\u05b6\u05dd \u05db\u05bc\u05b7\u05d0\u05b2\u05e9\u05c1\u05b6\u05e8 \u05d3\u05bc\u05b4\u05d1\u05bc\u05b6\u05e8 \u05d9\u05b0\u05d4\u05d5\u05b9\u05b8\u05d4:<\/span> <em>8:15 But when Pharaoh saw that there was relief, he hardened his heart and did not listen to them, as the Lord had said. (NASB)\u00a0<\/em> Following each plague, Pharaoh seeing relief (<span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u05d4\u05b8\u05e8\u05b0\u05d5\u05b8\u05d7\u05b8\u05d4<\/span>) would sin in his heart and not listen to Moshe, Aaron, or the word of the Lord.\u00a0 It is interesting to read how Pharaoh struggles with sin.\u00a0 Seeing relief he habitually returns to sin and does not listen to the word of the Lord.\u00a0 The sad truth of the matter is today many who do know the Lord (unlike Pharaoh) also struggle with turning to sin when the trials end.\u00a0 The Apostle Paul said in <em>Galatians 5:13 \u201cFor you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don\u2019t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature.
