{"id":1940,"date":"2012-12-30T12:11:15","date_gmt":"2012-12-30T12:11:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.matsati.com\/?p=1940"},"modified":"2012-12-30T12:11:15","modified_gmt":"2012-12-30T12:11:15","slug":"bits-of-torah-truths-parashat-shemot-the-saving-power-of-god","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.matsati.com\/index.php\/bits-of-torah-truths-parashat-shemot-the-saving-power-of-god\/","title":{"rendered":"Bits of Torah Truths, Parashat Shemot, The Saving Power of God"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\">This weeks reading from Parashat Shemot (<em>Shemot \/ Exodus 1:1-6:1<\/em>) lists the sons of Yisrael who had come and died in Egypt.\u00a0 A new king arose who did not know Joseph (<em>1:1-7<\/em>).\u00a0 The king of Egypt feared the people of Israel and placed them into slavery (<em>1:9-14<\/em>).\u00a0 Pharaoh commanded all the Hebrew boys to be put to death at birth and Moshe is born (<em>1:15-2:10<\/em>).\u00a0 Moshe grew up knowing who he was a Hebrew (<em>2:11-12<\/em>).\u00a0 Later in life Moshe killed an Egyptian man.\u00a0 Being afraid for his life he fled from Egypt to Midian (<em>2:13-15<\/em>).\u00a0 In Midian he married Zipporah (<em>2:21-22<\/em>) and worked as a shepherd.\u00a0 God heard the cry of His people and remembered the covenant that he made with Avraham, Isaac, and Jacob.\u00a0 The Lord reveals Himself to Moshe from the midst of the burning bush on the mountain of Horeb (<em>2:24-3:10<\/em>).\u00a0 Moshe speaks to the Lord out of fear of Pharaoh (<em>3:11-22-4:1<\/em>) and interestingly the first thing that the Lord does is reveal something about Himself and gives him the sign that He is with him.\u00a0 Moshe travels to Goshen, assembled all of the elders of Israel and spoke to them the words of the Lord and performed the signs (<em>staff\/serpent and leprous hand<\/em>) before the people.\u00a0 The people believed Moshe and the Lord.\u00a0 Moshe and Aharon speak to Pharaoh but Pharaoh would not let the people go (<em>5:7-9<\/em>) and as a result he increased their labor and the people cried out to Moshe and to God.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><strong>\u05db\u05ea\u05d1\u05d9 \u05d4\u05e7\u05d5\u05d3\u05e9 \/ The Holy Scriptures<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right; padding-left: 30px;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u05e1\u05e4\u05e8 \u05e9\u05de\u05d5\u05ea \u05e4\u05e8\u05e7 \u05d2<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u05d9\u05d0\u00a0\u00a0 \u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05bc\u05b9\u05d0\u05de\u05b6\u05e8 \u05de\u05b9\u05e9\u05c1\u05b6\u05d4 \u05d0\u05b6\u05dc-\u05d4\u05b8\u05d0\u05b1\u05dc\u05b9\u05d4\u05b4\u05d9\u05dd \u05de\u05b4\u05d9 \u05d0\u05b8\u05e0\u05b9\u05db\u05b4\u05d9 \u05db\u05bc\u05b4\u05d9 \u05d0\u05b5\u05dc\u05b5\u05da\u05b0 \u05d0\u05b6\u05dc-\u05e4\u05bc\u05b7\u05e8\u05b0\u05e2\u05b9\u05d4 \u05d5\u05b0\u05db\u05b4\u05d9 \u05d0\u05d5\u05b9\u05e6\u05b4\u05d9\u05d0 \u05d0\u05b6\u05ea-\u05d1\u05bc\u05b0\u05e0\u05b5\u05d9 \u05d9\u05b4\u05e9\u05b0\u05b9\u05e8\u05b8\u05d0\u05b5\u05dc \u05de\u05b4\u05de\u05bc\u05b4\u05e6\u05b0\u05e8\u05b8\u05d9\u05b4\u05dd: \u05d9\u05d1\u00a0\u00a0 \u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05bc\u05b9\u05d0\u05de\u05b6\u05e8 \u05db\u05bc\u05b4\u05d9-\u05d0\u05b6\u05d4\u05b0\u05d9\u05b6\u05d4 \u05e2\u05b4\u05de\u05bc\u05b8\u05da\u05b0 \u05d5\u05b0\u05d6\u05b6\u05d4-\u05dc\u05bc\u05b0\u05da\u05b8 \u05d4\u05b8\u05d0\u05d5\u05b9\u05ea \u05db\u05bc\u05b4\u05d9 \u05d0\u05b8\u05e0\u05b9\u05db\u05b4\u05d9 \u05e9\u05c1\u05b0\u05dc\u05b7\u05d7\u05b0\u05ea\u05bc\u05b4\u05d9\u05da\u05b8 \u05d1\u05bc\u05b0\u05d4\u05d5\u05b9\u05e6\u05b4\u05d9\u05d0\u05b2\u05da\u05b8 \u05d0\u05b6\u05ea-\u05d4\u05b8\u05e2\u05b8\u05dd \u05de\u05b4\u05de\u05bc\u05b4\u05e6\u05b0\u05e8\u05b7\u05d9\u05b4\u05dd \u05ea\u05bc\u05b7\u05e2\u05b7\u05d1\u05b0\u05d3\u05d5\u05bc\u05df \u05d0\u05b6\u05ea-\u05d4\u05b8\u05d0\u05b1\u05dc\u05b9\u05d4\u05b4\u05d9\u05dd \u05e2\u05b7\u05dc \u05d4\u05b8\u05d4\u05b8\u05e8 \u05d4\u05b7\u05d6\u05bc\u05b6\u05d4: \u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><strong><em>Shemot \/ Exodus 3:11-12<\/em><\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<em>3:11 But Moses said to God, \u2018Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the sons of Israel out of Egypt?\u2019\u00a0 3:12 And He said, \u2018Certainly I will be with you, and this shall be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall worship God at this mountain.\u2019 (NASB)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>When the Lord told Moshe that He was sending him to Egypt, Moshe&#8217;s response was <span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u05de\u05b4\u05d9 \u05d0\u05b8\u05e0\u05b9\u05db\u05b4\u05d9<\/span> <em>\u201cwho am I?\u201d<\/em>\u00a0 It appears as if Moshe is trying to find excuses not to go to Egypt saying \u201cI am not eloquent in speech\u201d (<em>4:10<\/em>) and \u201cwhat if the people do not believe me?\u201d (<em>4:1<\/em>).\u00a0 The Lord tells Moshe saying <em><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u05d9\u05d1\u00a0\u00a0 \u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05bc\u05b9\u05d0\u05de\u05b6\u05e8 \u05db\u05bc\u05b4\u05d9-\u05d0\u05b6\u05d4\u05b0\u05d9\u05b6\u05d4 \u05e2\u05b4\u05de\u05bc\u05b8\u05da\u05b0 \u05d5\u05b0\u05d6\u05b6\u05d4-\u05dc\u05bc\u05b0\u05da\u05b8 \u05d4\u05b8\u05d0\u05d5\u05b9\u05ea \u05db\u05bc\u05b4\u05d9 \u05d0\u05b8\u05e0\u05b9\u05db\u05b4\u05d9 \u05e9\u05c1\u05b0\u05dc\u05b7\u05d7\u05b0\u05ea\u05bc\u05b4\u05d9\u05da\u05b8 \u05d1\u05bc\u05b0\u05d4\u05d5\u05b9\u05e6\u05b4\u05d9\u05d0\u05b2\u05da\u05b8 \u05d0\u05b6\u05ea-\u05d4\u05b8\u05e2\u05b8\u05dd \u05de\u05b4\u05de\u05bc\u05b4\u05e6\u05b0\u05e8\u05b7\u05d9\u05b4\u05dd \u05ea\u05bc\u05b7\u05e2\u05b7\u05d1\u05b0\u05d3\u05d5\u05bc\u05df \u05d0\u05b6\u05ea-\u05d4\u05b8\u05d0\u05b1\u05dc\u05b9\u05d4\u05b4\u05d9\u05dd \u05e2\u05b7\u05dc \u05d4\u05b8\u05d4\u05b8\u05e8 \u05d4\u05b7\u05d6\u05bc\u05b6\u05d4:<\/span>\u00a0 3:12 And He said, \u2018Certainly I will be with you, and this shall be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall worship God at this mountain.\u2019 (NASB)<\/em>\u00a0 The Lord declares that He will be with him and the sign He gives Moshe is that He will bring the people out to worship at this mountain.\u00a0 In addition to this statement, The Lord God reveals something about Himself in <em>Shemot \/ Exodus 3:14-15<\/em> saying <em>3:14 God said to Moses, \u2018I AM WHO I AM\u2019; and He said, \u2018Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, \u2018I AM has sent me to you.\u2019\u2018\u00a0 3:15 God, furthermore, said to Moses, \u2018Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, \u2018The Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.\u2019 This is My name forever, and this is My memorial-name to all generations. (NASB)<\/em>\u00a0 Isn\u2019t it interesting that the first thing the Lord declares is not a proof of miracles but that the people will stand in His presence and this is the power of God to deliver His people.\u00a0 Signs (miracles) and wonders never saves anyone and even the most awesome of miracles is not capable of making a person believe in the Lord.\u00a0 Of all the miracles Yeshua performed during his ministry here on earth, there were still many who would not believe (<em>i.e. those from among the people and leaders in Israel<\/em>).\u00a0 The miracles performed in Egypt or in Yeshua\u2019s ministry were not meant to save people.\u00a0 The miracles themselves were a testimony of the Power of God to save, to heal, to provide for, demonstrating the all sufficient Saving Power of God.\u00a0 It is the power of God to save souls by His presence in our lives that is so important.
