{"id":1925,"date":"2012-12-23T12:24:21","date_gmt":"2012-12-23T12:24:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.matsati.com\/?p=1925"},"modified":"2012-12-23T12:24:21","modified_gmt":"2012-12-23T12:24:21","slug":"bits-of-torah-truths-parashat-vayechi-our-strength-is-in-him","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.matsati.com\/index.php\/bits-of-torah-truths-parashat-vayechi-our-strength-is-in-him\/","title":{"rendered":"Bits of Torah Truths, Parashat Vayechi, Our Strength is in Him"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In this weeks reading from Parashat Vayechi (<em>Bereshit \/ Genesis 47:28-50:26<\/em>) is the final chapters of the book of Genesis.\u00a0 The opening verses tell us that Jacob (Israel) lived in the land of Egypt seventeen years and the total length of his life were 147 years.\u00a0 Before Jacob died he asked <span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u05dc\u00a0\u00a0 \u05d5\u05b0\u05e9\u05c1\u05b8\u05db\u05b7\u05d1\u05b0\u05ea\u05bc\u05b4\u05d9 \u05e2\u05b4\u05dd-\u05d0\u05b2\u05d1\u05b9\u05ea\u05b7\u05d9 \u05d5\u05bc\u05e0\u05b0\u05e9\u05b8\u05b9\u05d0\u05ea\u05b7\u05e0\u05b4\u05d9 \u05de\u05b4\u05de\u05bc\u05b4\u05e6\u05b0\u05e8\u05b7\u05d9\u05b4\u05dd \u05d5\u05bc\u05e7\u05b0\u05d1\u05b7\u05e8\u05b0\u05ea\u05bc\u05b7\u05e0\u05b4\u05d9 \u05d1\u05bc\u05b4\u05e7\u05b0\u05d1\u05bb\u05e8\u05b8\u05ea\u05b8\u05dd \u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05bc\u05b9\u05d0\u05de\u05b7\u05e8 \u05d0\u05b8\u05e0\u05b9\u05db\u05b4\u05d9 \u05d0\u05b6\u05e2\u05b0\u05e9\u05b6\u05b9\u05d4 \u05db\u05b4\u05d3\u05b0\u05d1\u05b8\u05e8\u05b6\u05da\u05b8: \u05dc\u05d0\u00a0\u00a0 \u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05bc\u05b9\u05d0\u05de\u05b6\u05e8 \u05d4\u05b4\u05e9\u05bc\u05c1\u05b8\u05d1\u05b0\u05e2\u05b8\u05d4 \u05dc\u05b4\u05d9 \u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05bc\u05b4\u05e9\u05bc\u05c1\u05b8\u05d1\u05b7\u05e2 \u05dc\u05d5\u05b9 \u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05bc\u05b4\u05e9\u05c1\u05b0\u05ea\u05bc\u05b7\u05d7\u05d5\u05bc \u05d9\u05b4\u05e9\u05b0\u05b9\u05e8\u05b8\u05d0\u05b5\u05dc \u05e2\u05b7\u05dc-\u05e8\u05b9\u05d0\u05e9\u05c1 \u05d4\u05b7\u05de\u05bc\u05b4\u05d8\u05bc\u05b8\u05d4:<\/span> \u201c <em>47:30 but when I lie down with my fathers, you shall carry me out of Egypt and bury me in their burial place.\u2019 And he said, \u2018I will do as you have said.\u2019 (NASB)<\/em>\u00a0 Jacob blesses Joseph\u2019s two sons Manasseh and Ephraim (<em>48:1-2<\/em>).\u00a0 Jacob tells Joseph that his two sons will be his (<em>48:5<\/em>) and declares that Joseph\u2019s descendents after him shall be called after their names (<em>48:6<\/em>).\u00a0 Jacob then proceeds to make statements against his sons on account of what they had done while in the land of Canaan (<em>49:1-26<\/em>).\u00a0 In the midst of Jacob\u2019s blessing over his sons he provides us with a Messianic expectation in his statements to Judah <span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u05dc\u05b9\u05d0-\u05d9\u05b8\u05e1\u05d5\u05bc\u05e8 \u05e9\u05c1\u05b5\u05d1\u05b6\u05d8 \u05de\u05b4\u05d9\u05d4\u05d5\u05bc\u05d3\u05b8\u05d4 \u05d5\u05bc\u05de\u05b0\u05d7\u05b9\u05e7\u05b5\u05e7 \u05de\u05b4\u05d1\u05bc\u05b5\u05d9\u05df \u05e8\u05b7\u05d2\u05b0\u05dc\u05b8\u05d9\u05d5 \u05e2\u05b7\u05d3 \u05db\u05bc\u05b4\u05d9-\u05d9\u05b8\u05d1\u05b9\u05d0 \u05e9\u05c1\u05b4\u05d9\u05dc\u05b9\u05d4 \u05d5\u05b0\u05dc\u05d5\u05b9 \u05d9\u05b4\u05e7\u05bc\u05b0\u05d4\u05b7\u05ea \u05e2\u05b7\u05de\u05bc\u05b4\u05d9\u05dd<\/span>\u00a0 <em>49:10 The scepter shall not depart from Judah, Nor the ruler\u2019s staff from between his feet, Until Shiloh comes, And to him shall be the obedience of the peoples. (NASB)<\/em>\u00a0 Jacob dies and Joseph and his brothers bury him in the land of Canaan (<em>49:29-50:14<\/em>).\u00a0 Joseph\u2019s brothers seek forgiveness and ask for mercy.\u00a0 Joseph assures them that they need not fear.\u00a0 The final verses of Genesis tell of the death of Joseph, he lived 110 years and then died, was embalmed and placed in an coffin (<em>50:15-26<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u05db\u05ea\u05d1\u05d9 \u05d4\u05e7\u05d5\u05d3\u05e9 \/ The Holy Scriptures<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right; (NASB)<\/em>\u00a0 While blessing Joseph\u2019s sons, Jacob realized that God does not always choose the first born but in many instances He chooses the unusual thing to complete His will.\u00a0 For example in the Bible God uses common people to do his work.\u00a0 God often chooses the weak to do His will, 1 Corinthians 1:27 but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong, (NASB)\u00a0 David says in <em>Tehillim \/ Psalms 8<\/em> &#8230; <span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u05d2\u00a0\u00a0 \u05de\u05b4\u05e4\u05bc\u05b4\u05d9 \u05e2\u05d5\u05b9\u05dc\u05b0\u05dc\u05b4\u05d9\u05dd | \u05d5\u05b0\u05d9\u05b9\u05e0\u05b0\u05e7\u05b4\u05d9\u05dd \u05d9\u05b4\u05e1\u05bc\u05b7\u05d3\u05b0\u05ea\u05bc\u05b8 \u05e2\u05b9\u05d6 \u05dc\u05b0\u05de\u05b7\u05e2\u05b7\u05df \u05e6\u05d5\u05b9\u05e8\u05b0\u05e8\u05b6\u05d9\u05da\u05b8 \u05dc\u05b0\u05d4\u05b7\u05e9\u05c1\u05b0\u05d1\u05bc\u05b4\u05d9\u05ea \u05d0\u05d5\u05b9\u05d9\u05b5\u05d1 \u05d5\u05bc\u05de\u05b4\u05ea\u05b0\u05e0\u05b7\u05e7\u05bc\u05b5\u05dd:<\/span>\u00a0 <em>8:2 From the mouth of infants and nursing babes You have established strength Because of Your adversaries, To make the enemy and the revengeful cease.
