{"id":1890,"date":"2012-12-09T13:22:23","date_gmt":"2012-12-09T13:22:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.matsati.com\/?p=1890"},"modified":"2012-12-09T13:22:23","modified_gmt":"2012-12-09T13:22:23","slug":"bits-of-torah-truths-parashat-miketz-sin-and-unrepentance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.matsati.com\/index.php\/bits-of-torah-truths-parashat-miketz-sin-and-unrepentance\/","title":{"rendered":"Bits of Torah Truths, Parashat Miketz, Sin and Unrepentance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><strong>Sin and Unrepentance<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>In this weeks reading from Parashat Miketz (Bereshit \/ Genesis 41:1-44:17) Joseph interprets Pharaoh\u2019s dreams and provides the prophetic interpretation that was given to him from God (Bereshit \/ Genesis 41:25-32).\u00a0 Pharaoh is impressed with Joseph\u2019s interpretation and states saying \u05dc\u05d7\u00a0\u00a0 \u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05bc\u05b9\u05d0\u05de\u05b6\u05e8 \u05e4\u05bc\u05b7\u05e8\u05b0\u05e2\u05b9\u05d4 \u05d0\u05b6\u05dc-\u05e2\u05b2\u05d1\u05b8\u05d3\u05b8\u05d9\u05d5 \u05d4\u05b2\u05e0\u05b4\u05de\u05b0\u05e6\u05b8\u05d0 \u05db\u05b8\u05d6\u05b6\u05d4 \u05d0\u05b4\u05d9\u05e9\u05c1 \u05d0\u05b2\u05e9\u05c1\u05b6\u05e8 \u05e8\u05d5\u05bc\u05d7\u05b7 \u05d0\u05b1\u05dc\u05b9\u05d4\u05b4\u05d9\u05dd \u05d1\u05bc\u05d5\u05b9:\u00a0 41:38 Then Pharaoh said to his servants, \u201cCan we find a man like this, in whom is a divine spirit?\u201d (NASB)\u00a0 As a result, Pharaoh places Joseph in charge over all of Egypt (Bereshit \/ Genesis 41:40-45).\u00a0 While reading through this week\u2019s Parashah, during adversity or during times of prosperity, Joseph consistently gives credit to and calls upon the Lord God Almighty (Bereshit \/ Genesis 41:14-16).\u00a0 Interestingly, reading through this week\u2019s and last week\u2019s Parashah, both Joseph and Jacob (Bereshit \/ Genesis 43:11-15) make references to the Lord God.\u00a0 Joseph\u2019s brothers however do not.\u00a0 They do however acknowledge the fact of their sin against their brother Joseph and selling him into salvery.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><strong>\u05db\u05ea\u05d1\u05d9 \u05d4\u05e7\u05d5\u05d3\u05e9 \/ The Holy Scriptures<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right; and when he had shaved himself and changed his clothes, he came to Pharaoh.\u00a0 41:15 Pharaoh said to Joseph, \u2018I have had a dream, but no one can interpret it; and I have heard it said about you, that when you hear a dream you can interpret it.\u2019\u00a0 41:16 Joseph then answered Pharaoh, saying, \u2018It is not in me; God will give Pharaoh a favorable answer.\u2019 (NASB)<\/p>\n<p>The Scriptures from the Torah do not give us the details on exactly how Joseph\u2019s brothers are dealing with their sin against their brother, and their relationship with God.\u00a0 Though, in Bereshit \/ Genesis 42:22, it appears that they had discussed what they had done and that Reuben believes they are reaping the consequences of their sins \u05db\u05d1\u00a0\u00a0 \u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05bc\u05b7\u05e2\u05b7\u05df \u05e8\u05b0\u05d0\u05d5\u05bc\u05d1\u05b5\u05df \u05d0\u05b9\u05ea\u05b8\u05dd \u05dc\u05b5\u05d0\u05de\u05b9\u05e8 \u05d4\u05b2\u05dc\u05d5\u05b9\u05d0 \u05d0\u05b8\u05de\u05b7\u05e8\u05b0\u05ea\u05bc\u05b4\u05d9 \u05d0\u05b2\u05dc\u05b5\u05d9\u05db\u05b6\u05dd | \u05dc\u05b5\u05d0\u05de\u05b9\u05e8 \u05d0\u05b7\u05dc-\u05ea\u05bc\u05b6\u05d7\u05b6\u05d8\u05b0\u05d0\u05d5\u05bc \u05d1\u05b7\u05d9\u05bc\u05b6\u05dc\u05b6\u05d3 \u05d5\u05b0\u05dc\u05b9\u05d0 \u05e9\u05c1\u05b0\u05de\u05b7\u05e2\u05b0\u05ea\u05bc\u05b6\u05dd \u05d5\u05b0\u05d2\u05b7\u05dd-\u05d3\u05bc\u05b8\u05de\u05d5\u05b9 \u05d4\u05b4\u05e0\u05bc\u05b5\u05d4 \u05e0\u05b4\u05d3\u05b0\u05e8\u05b8\u05e9\u05c1:\u00a0 42:22 Reuben answered them, saying, \u201cDid I not tell you, \u2018Do not sin against the boy\u2019; and you would not listen? Now comes the reckoning for his blood.\u201d (NASB)\u00a0 Had they prayed to the Lord for forgiveness for their sin?\u00a0 Did they have the right to ask help from God living unrepentent lives before their Father in Heaven and on earth?\u00a0 According to Tehillim \/ Psalms 7:12 David says \u05d9\u05d2\u00a0\u00a0 \u05d0\u05b4\u05dd-\u05dc\u05b9\u05d0 \u05d9\u05b8\u05e9\u05c1\u05d5\u05bc\u05d1 \u05d7\u05b7\u05e8\u05b0\u05d1\u05bc\u05d5\u05b9 \u05d9\u05b4\u05dc\u05b0\u05d8\u05d5\u05b9\u05e9\u05c1 \u05e7\u05b7\u05e9\u05c1\u05b0\u05ea\u05bc\u05d5\u05b9 \u05d3\u05b8\u05e8\u05b7\u05da\u05b0 \u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05b0\u05db\u05d5\u05b9\u05e0\u05b0\u05e0\u05b6\u05d4\u05b8: 7:12 If a man does not repent, He will sharpen His sword; He has bent His bow and made it ready. (NASB)\u00a0 In the Psalms it is written \u05d0\u05b4\u05dd-\u05dc\u05b9\u05d0 \u05d9\u05b8\u05e9\u05c1\u05d5\u05bc\u05d1 \u201cif he does not repent\u201d the one who doesn\u2019t repent is like the man who puts the finishing touches (\u05d9\u05b4\u05dc\u05b0\u05d8\u05d5\u05b9\u05e9\u05c1) on his sword and bow and prepares for war.\u00a0 The unrepentant man prepares himself for war with God and is unable to seek help from the Lord.\u00a0 The Apostle Paul tells us in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 17\u1f00\u03b4\u03b9\u03b1\u03bb\u03b5\u1f77\u03c0\u03c4\u03c9\u03c2 \u03c0\u03c1\u03bf\u03c3\u03b5\u1f7b\u03c7\u03b5\u03c3\u03b8\u03b5, 5:17 pray without ceasing;
