{"id":1750,"date":"2012-10-11T16:16:47","date_gmt":"2012-10-11T16:16:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.matsati.com\/?p=1750"},"modified":"2012-10-28T00:43:06","modified_gmt":"2012-10-28T00:43:06","slug":"tehillim-psalms-3-study-david-and-absalom-part-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.matsati.com\/index.php\/tehillim-psalms-3-study-david-and-absalom-part-1\/","title":{"rendered":"Tehillim \/ Psalms 3 Study, David and Absalom, Part 1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This week\u2019s study is from Tehillim \/ Psalms 3: 1-9.\u00a0 The Psalm begins by stating this is \u201cA Psalm of David, when he fled from the presence of his son Absalom.\u201d\u00a0 Historical events are often used as the motivation for the writing of a particular Psalm.\u00a0 David is crying out to the Lord saying \u05d1\u00a0\u00a0 <span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u05d9\u05b0\u05d4\u05b9\u05d5\u05b8\u05d4 \u05de\u05b8\u05d4-\u05e8\u05b7\u05d1\u05bc\u05d5\u05bc \u05e6\u05b8\u05e8\u05b8\u05d9 \u05e8\u05b7\u05d1\u05bc\u05b4\u05d9\u05dd \u05e7\u05b8\u05de\u05b4\u05d9\u05dd \u05e2\u05b8\u05dc\u05b8\u05d9:<\/span> \u201c3:1 O Lord, how my adversaries have increased! Many are rising up against me.\u201d\u00a0 David then says <span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u05d2\u00a0\u00a0 \u05e8\u05b7\u05d1\u05bc\u05b4\u05d9\u05dd \u05d0\u05b9\u05de\u05b0\u05e8\u05b4\u05d9\u05dd \u05dc\u05b0\u05e0\u05b7\u05e4\u05b0\u05e9\u05c1\u05b4\u05d9 \u05d0\u05b5\u05d9\u05df \u05d9\u05b0\u05e9\u05c1\u05d5\u05bc\u05e2\u05b8\u05ea\u05b8\u05d4 \u05dc\u05bc\u05d5\u05b9 \u05d1\u05b5\u05d0\u05dc\u05b9\u05d4\u05b4\u05d9\u05dd \u05e1\u05b6\u05dc\u05b8\u05d4:<\/span> 3:2 Many are saying of my soul, \u2018There is no deliverance for him in God.\u2019 Selah. (NASB)\u00a0 Who was David speaking of when he said that many are saying of his soul that there is no deliverance for him in God?\u00a0 Here David is addressing his complaint about his situation to God and that there are many who trouble him.\u00a0 There are people who even taunt him saying there is no help even from God (see 2 Samuel 16:5-14).\u00a0 Following these statements, is an expression of comfort that David had received from the Lord in the past.\u00a0 God\u2019s protection in the past leads him to realize that the Lord is his shield (<span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u05de\u05b8\u05d2\u05b5\u05df<\/span>) and his glory (<span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u05db\u05bc\u05b0\u05d1\u05d5\u05b9\u05d3\u05b4\u05d9<\/span>), that the Lord God is the One who is able to lift up his head (<span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u05d5\u05bc\u05de\u05b5\u05e8\u05b4\u05d9\u05dd \u05e8\u05b9\u05d0\u05e9\u05c1\u05b4\u05d9<\/span>).
