\nfrom Bereshit \/ Genesis 28:10-22<\/em><\/font>, God gave Yaakov a vision of angels
\nascending and descending upon a ladder at a place that is called Luz. Reading through sefer Bereshit
\n(the book of Genesis<\/font>) up until this point it appears that this is the first time
\nGod has revealed Himself to Yaakov (Jacob). The Lord reiterated the covenant He had made with his father’s
\nAvraham and Yitzchak (Isaac) and promises to never leave Yaakov until He has done what He has promised him. As a
\nresult, Yaakov calls the place he was laying “Beit-El” (Bethel) meaning the “house of God” because
\nGod was in this place.
