In this week\u2019s study from Parashat Balak (Bamidbar \/ Numbers 22:2-38<\/em><\/span>) Balak king of Moab saw what the children of Yisrael had done to the Amorites and both he and the people of Moab were afraid being very anxious about Yisrael\u2019s presence.\u00a0 As a result, Balak asks for help from a man called Bilam. Now Bilam was well known according to Balak saying: \u05db\u05bc\u05b4\u05d9 \u05d9\u05b8\u05d3\u05b7\u05e2\u05b0\u05ea\u05bc\u05b4\u05d9 \u05d0\u05b5\u05ea \u05d0\u05b2\u05e9\u05c1\u05b6\u05e8-\u05ea\u05bc\u05b0\u05d1\u05b8\u05e8\u05b5\u05da\u05b0 \u05de\u05b0\u05d1\u05b9\u05e8\u05b8\u05da\u05b0 \u05d5\u05b7\u05d0\u05b2\u05e9\u05c1\u05b6\u05e8 \u05ea\u05bc\u05b8\u05d0\u05b9\u05e8 \u05d9\u05d5\u05bc\u05d0\u05b8\u05e8<\/em><\/span> meaning \u2018For I know that he whom you bless is blessed, and he whom you curse is cursed.\u2019<\/em><\/span> (22:6<\/em><\/span>). It is interesting that Bilam was in contact with (hearing from) the Lord as we see in the repeated references that God said not to go with the men of Balak.\u00a0 Eventually, at the persistence of Balak, Bilam goes with the men and God\u2019s anger<\/span> burned against Bilam. \u00a0Then Angel of the Lord stood in the way of Bilam\u2019s donkey to slay him.\u00a0 Bilam is very persistent; three times Bilam turns to continue on his way being unaware that his life is in eminent danger.\u00a0 How often do you think we walk in eminent danger if we are not walking and living in God\u2019s Word?\u00a0 Think about this for a moment.\u00a0 Last week, Moshe and Aharon failed to remain in God\u2019s Word and they failed to sanctify the Name of God (Bamidbar \/ Numbers 20<\/em><\/span>).\u00a0 In this week\u2019s study, Bilam failed to remain in God\u2019s Word and if it wasn\u2019t for the mercy of God, Bilam would have died.\u00a0 Today, do we take our walk, our faith, and our relationship with God seriously enough?\u00a0 What about prayer; do we understand prayer according to the Bible or do we understand prayer like Bilam understood prayer?
