In last week&rsquo;s Parashah, the Lord God told Moshe that Yehoshua (Joshua) will lead the people after his death.&nbsp; The Lord told Moshe to write down this song (<em>\u05d5\u05b0\u05e2\u05b7\u05ea\u05bc\u05b8\u05d4 \u05db\u05bc\u05b4\u05ea\u05b0\u05d1\u05d5\u05bc \u05dc\u05b8\u05db\u05b6\u05dd \u05d0\u05b6\u05ea-\u05d4\u05b7\u05e9\u05bc\u05c1\u05b4\u05d9\u05e8\u05b8\u05d4 \u05d4\u05b7\u05d6\u05bc\u05b9\u05d0\u05ea<\/em>) and the song will be a witness against them (<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>\u05dc\u05b0\u05de\u05b7\u05e2\u05b7\u05df \u05ea\u05bc\u05b4\u05d4\u05b0\u05d9\u05b6\u05d4-\u05dc\u05bc\u05b4\u05d9 \u05d4\u05b7\u05e9\u05bc\u05c1\u05b4\u05d9\u05e8\u05b8\u05d4 \u05d4\u05b7\u05d6\u05bc\u05b9\u05d0\u05ea \u05dc\u05b0\u05e2\u05b5\u05d3 \u05d1\u05bc\u05b4\u05d1\u05b0\u05e0\u05b5\u05d9 \u05d9\u05b4\u05e9\u05b0\u05b9\u05e8\u05b8\u05d0\u05b5\u05dc<\/em>).&nbsp; <em>\u05dc&nbsp;&nbsp; \u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05b0\u05d3\u05b7\u05d1\u05bc\u05b5\u05e8 \u05de\u05b9\u05e9\u05c1\u05b6\u05d4 \u05d1\u05bc\u05b0\u05d0\u05b8\u05d6\u05b0\u05e0\u05b5\u05d9 \u05db\u05bc\u05b8\u05dc-\u05e7\u05b0\u05d4\u05b7\u05dc \u05d9\u05b4\u05e9\u05b0\u05b9\u05e8\u05b8\u05d0\u05b5\u05dc \u05d0\u05b6\u05ea-\u05d3\u05bc\u05b4\u05d1\u05b0\u05e8\u05b5\u05d9 \u05d4\u05b7\u05e9\u05bc\u05c1\u05b4\u05d9\u05e8\u05b8\u05d4 \u05d4\u05b7\u05d6\u05bc\u05b9\u05d0\u05ea \u05e2\u05b7\u05d3 \u05ea\u05bc\u05bb\u05de\u05bc\u05b8\u05dd<\/em><\/span><em>:<\/em> (<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>Devarim \/ Deuteronomy 31:29-30<\/em><\/span>).&nbsp; <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>31:30 Then Moses spoke in the hearing of all the assembly of Israel the words of this song, until they were complete: (NASB.)<\/em><\/span>&nbsp; In the opening verse of Parashat Ha&rsquo;azinu Moshe calls Heaven (<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>\u05d4\u05b7\u05e9\u05bc\u05c1\u05b8\u05de\u05b7\u05d9\u05b4\u05dd<\/em><\/span>) and Earth (<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>\u05d4\u05b8\u05d0\u05b8\u05e8\u05b6\u05e5<\/em><\/span>) as witnesses to the covenant (<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>\u05d4\u05b7\u05d0\u05b2\u05d6\u05b4\u05d9\u05e0\u05d5\u05bc \u05d4\u05b7\u05e9\u05bc\u05c1\u05b8\u05de\u05b7\u05d9\u05b4\u05dd \u05d5\u05b7\u05d0\u05b2\u05d3\u05b7\u05d1\u05bc\u05b5\u05e8\u05b8\u05d4 \u05d5\u05b0\u05ea\u05b4\u05e9\u05c1\u05b0\u05de\u05b7\u05e2 \u05d4\u05b8\u05d0\u05b8\u05e8\u05b6\u05e5 \u05d0\u05b4\u05de\u05b0\u05e8\u05b5\u05d9-\u05e4\u05b4\u05d9<\/em><\/span>).&nbsp; Calling the solid unmoving (unchanging) Heaven and Earth as a witness implies that the unmovable things are watching should the children of Yisrael break the covenant and disobey God.&nbsp; Moshe proclaims the name of the Lord (<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>\u05db\u05bc\u05b4\u05d9 \u05e9\u05c1\u05b5\u05dd \u05d9\u05b0\u05d4\u05d5\u05b9\u05b8\u05d4 \u05d0\u05b6\u05e7\u05b0\u05e8\u05b8\u05d0<\/em><\/span>) saying He is our Rock (<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>\u05d4\u05b7\u05e6\u05bc\u05d5\u05bc\u05e8<\/em><\/span>), that His work is perfect (<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>\u05ea\u05bc\u05b8\u05de\u05b4\u05d9\u05dd \u05e4\u05bc\u05b8\u05e2\u05b3\u05dc\u05d5\u05b9<\/em><\/span>), all of his ways are in truth (<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>\u05db\u05bc\u05b4\u05d9 \u05db\u05b8\u05dc-\u05d3\u05bc\u05b0\u05e8\u05b8\u05db\u05b8\u05d9\u05d5 \u05de\u05b4\u05e9\u05c1\u05b0\u05e4\u05bc\u05b8\u05d8 \u05d0\u05b5\u05dc \u05d0\u05b1\u05de\u05d5\u05bc\u05e0\u05b8\u05d4<\/em><\/span>), there is no injustice (<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>\u05d0\u05b5\u05d9\u05df \u05e2\u05b8\u05d5\u05b6\u05dc<\/em><\/span>), only righteousness (<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>\u05e6\u05b7\u05d3\u05bc\u05b4\u05d9\u05e7<\/em><\/span>) and that He is straight (<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>\u05d5\u05b0\u05d9\u05b8\u05e9\u05c1\u05b8\u05e8<\/em><\/span>) meaning that God is upright and just.&nbsp; Moshe then says <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>\u05e9\u05c1\u05b4\u05d7\u05b5\u05ea \u05dc\u05d5\u05b9 \u05dc\u05b9\u05d0 \u05d1\u05bc\u05b8\u05e0\u05b8\u05d9\u05d5 \u05de\u05d5\u05bc\u05de\u05b8\u05dd \u05d3\u05bc\u05d5\u05b9\u05e8 \u05e2\u05b4\u05e7\u05bc\u05b5\u05e9\u05c1 \u05d5\u05bc\u05e4\u05b0\u05ea\u05b7\u05dc\u05b0\u05ea\u05bc\u05b9\u05dc<\/em><\/span> meaning <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>&lsquo;They have acted corruptly toward Him, They are not His children, because of their defect; But are a perverse and crooked generation.<\/em><\/span>&nbsp; While reading these opening verses, can you see how Moshe is contrasting the absolute goodness of God with our impoverished fallen lives?&nbsp;
