{"id":1100,"date":"2011-11-20T19:11:00","date_gmt":"2011-11-20T19:11:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.matsati.com\/bblog2\/client\/index.cfm\/2011\/11\/20\/Parashat-Toldot-God-has-a-plan-for-you"},"modified":"2012-09-29T16:19:39","modified_gmt":"2012-09-29T16:19:39","slug":"parashat-toldot-god-has-a-plan-for-you","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.matsati.com\/index.php\/parashat-toldot-god-has-a-plan-for-you\/","title":{"rendered":"Parashat Toldot, God has a plan for you"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t<!-- Place some text here to wrap near image --><\/p>\n<p>This week&rsquo;s reading from Parashat Toldot (<font style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>Bereshit \/ Genesis 25:19-28:9<\/em><\/font>) can be summarized as (i) the struggle between Yaakov and Esav within Rebecca&rsquo;s womb (<font style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>25:21-23<\/em><\/font>), (ii) Esav became a skilled hunter and Yaakov dwelled in tents (<font style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>25:27-28<\/em><\/font>) Yitzchak loved Esav and Rebecca loved Yaakov, (iii) Esav sold his birthright for a bowl of soup (<font style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>25:29-34<\/em><\/font>), Yitzchak and Avimelech king of the Philistines interact, Yitzchak tells Avimelech that his wife is his sister (<font style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>26:1-11<\/em><\/font>), (iv) Abimelech, Ahuzzath, and Phicol make a covenant with Yitzchak (<font style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>26:26-31<\/em><\/font>), (v) Yaakov steals Esav&rsquo;s blessing (<font style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>27:1-41<\/em><\/font>), (vi) Yaakov flees to Haran (<font style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>27:42-28:6<\/em><\/font>), and (vii) Esav takes a wife from the daughters of Canaan (<font style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>28:7-9<\/em><\/font>).&nbsp; Before Yaakov and Esav were born they struggled together <font style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>\u05db\u05d1&nbsp;&nbsp; \u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05bc\u05b4\u05ea\u05b0\u05e8\u05b9\u05e6\u05b2\u05e6\u05d5\u05bc \u05d4\u05b7\u05d1\u05bc\u05b8\u05e0\u05b4\u05d9\u05dd \u05d1\u05bc\u05b0\u05e7\u05b4\u05e8\u05b0\u05d1\u05bc\u05b8\u05d4\u05bc \u05d5\u05b7\u05ea\u05bc\u05b9\u05d0\u05de\u05b6\u05e8 \u05d0\u05b4\u05dd-\u05db\u05bc\u05b5\u05df \u05dc\u05b8\u05de\u05bc\u05b8\u05d4 \u05d6\u05bc\u05b6\u05d4 \u05d0\u05b8\u05e0\u05b9\u05db\u05b4\u05d9 \u05d5\u05b7\u05ea\u05bc\u05b5\u05dc\u05b6\u05da\u05b0 \u05dc\u05b4\u05d3\u05b0\u05e8\u05e9\u05c1 \u05d0\u05b6\u05ea-\u05d9\u05b0\u05d4\u05d5\u05b9\u05b8\u05d4: \u05db\u05d2&nbsp;&nbsp; \u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05bc\u05b9\u05d0\u05de\u05b6\u05e8 \u05d9\u05b0\u05d4\u05b9\u05d5\u05b8\u05d4 \u05dc\u05b8\u05d4\u05bc \u05e9\u05c1\u05b0\u05e0\u05b5\u05d9 \u05d2\u05b9\u05d9\u05d9\u05b4\u05dd [\u05d2\u05d5\u05b9\u05d9\u05b4\u05dd] \u05d1\u05bc\u05b0\u05d1\u05b4\u05d8\u05b0\u05e0\u05b5\u05da\u05b0 \u05d5\u05bc\u05e9\u05c1\u05b0\u05e0\u05b5\u05d9 \u05dc\u05b0\u05d0\u05bb\u05de\u05bc\u05b4\u05d9\u05dd \u05de\u05b4\u05de\u05bc\u05b5\u05e2\u05b7\u05d9\u05b4\u05da\u05b0 \u05d9\u05b4\u05e4\u05bc\u05b8\u05e8\u05b5\u05d3\u05d5\u05bc \u05d5\u05bc\u05dc\u05b0\u05d0\u05b9\u05dd \u05de\u05b4\u05dc\u05b0\u05d0\u05b9\u05dd \u05d9\u05b6\u05d0\u05b1\u05de\u05b8\u05e5 \u05d5\u05b0\u05e8\u05b7\u05d1 \u05d9\u05b7\u05e2\u05b2\u05d1\u05b9\u05d3 \u05e6\u05b8\u05e2\u05b4\u05d9\u05e8:<\/em> <em>25:22 But the children struggled together within her; and she said, &lsquo;If it is so, why then am I this way?&nbsp; So she went to inquire of the Lord.&nbsp; 25:23 The Lord said to her, &lsquo;Two nations are in your womb; And two peoples will be separated from your body; And one people shall be stronger than the other; And the older shall serve the younger.&rsquo; (NASB)<\/em>&nbsp;<\/font> The struggle between these two brothers, as the scripture says is between two nations (<font style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>\u05e9\u05c1\u05b0\u05e0\u05b5\u05d9 \u05d2\u05b9\u05d9\u05d9\u05b4\u05dd<\/em><\/font>), as we study this week&rsquo;s Parashah, it becomes apparent that this struggle is related to the one that walks by faith and the other that despises God&rsquo;s ways.&nbsp; We learn that the one who despises God and His the promise of Avraham is Esav in his willingness to sell his birthright and marry from the daughters of Canaan <font style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>Bereshit \/ Genesis 25:32<\/em><\/font> (<font style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>\u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05bc\u05b9\u05d0\u05de\u05b6\u05e8 \u05e2\u05b5\u05e9\u05b8\u05b9\u05d5 \u05d4\u05b4\u05e0\u05bc\u05b5\u05d4 \u05d0\u05b8\u05e0\u05b9\u05db\u05b4\u05d9 \u05d4\u05d5\u05b9\u05dc\u05b5\u05da\u05b0 \u05dc\u05b8\u05de\u05d5\u05bc\u05ea \u05d5\u05b0\u05dc\u05b8\u05de\u05bc\u05b8\u05d4-\u05d6\u05bc\u05b6\u05d4 \u05dc\u05b4\u05d9 \u05d1\u05bc\u05b0\u05db\u05b9\u05e8\u05b8\u05d4<\/em><\/font>) <em>25:32 Esau said, &lsquo;Behold, I am about to die; so of what use then is the birthright to me?&rsquo;<\/em>&nbsp; &nbsp;Yaakov on the other hand loved the promises of God and did everything he could to inherit what God had promised to his fathers.&nbsp;
