The Lord speaks to Yaakov in a dream (<font style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>\u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05bc\u05b7\u05d7\u05b2\u05dc\u05b9\u05dd<\/em><\/font>) reaffirming the covenant He made with Yaakov&rsquo;s fathers (<font style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>Bereshit \/ Genesis 28:10-19<\/em><\/font>).&nbsp; Yaakov travels to Haran and meets Laban his mother&rsquo;s brother (<font style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>29:9-14<\/em><\/font>) and also meets Rachel Laban&rsquo;s daughter <font style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>\u05d5\u05b0\u05d4\u05b4\u05e0\u05bc\u05b5\u05d4 \u05e8\u05b8\u05d7\u05b5\u05dc \u05d1\u05bc\u05b4\u05ea\u05bc\u05d5\u05b9 \u05d1\u05bc\u05b8\u05d0\u05b8\u05d4<\/em><\/font> (<font style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>29:6-8<\/em><\/font>). &nbsp;Yaakov makes a deal with Laban to work 7 years for Rachel his daughter to be his wife (<font style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>29:18-21<\/em><\/font>).&nbsp; Laban tricks Yaakov and gives the older daughter Leah instead and Yaakov must work another 7 years for Rachel <font style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>\u05d0\u05b6\u05e2\u05b1\u05d1\u05b8\u05d3\u05b0\u05da\u05b8 \u05e9\u05c1\u05b6\u05d1\u05b7\u05e2 \u05e9\u05c1\u05b8\u05e0\u05b4\u05d9\u05dd \u05d1\u05bc\u05b0\u05e8\u05b8\u05d7\u05b5\u05dc \u05d1\u05bc\u05b4\u05ea\u05bc\u05b0\u05da\u05b8 \u05d4\u05b7\u05e7\u05bc\u05b0\u05d8\u05b7\u05e0\u05bc\u05b8\u05d4<\/em><\/font> (<font style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>29:22-28<\/em>)<\/font>.&nbsp; Yaakov&rsquo;s children are born by Leah, Rachel, Zilpah, and Bilhah, (<font style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>29:31-30:27<\/em><\/font>).&nbsp; Yaakov and Laban agree on Yaakov&rsquo;s wages (<font style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>30:28-43<\/em><\/font>) but Laban and his sons are upset that Yaakov has become so wealthy <font style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>\u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05bc\u05b4\u05e4\u05b0\u05e8\u05b9\u05e5 \u05d4\u05b8\u05d0\u05b4\u05d9\u05e9\u05c1 \u05de\u05b0\u05d0\u05b9\u05d3 \u05de\u05b0\u05d0\u05b9\u05d3<\/em><\/font> (<font style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>31:1-3<\/em>)<\/font>.&nbsp; As a result, God speaks to Yaakov, and Yaakov takes his family and all he owns and returns to the land of Canaan (<font style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>31:4-21<\/em><\/font>) and Yaakov makes a covenant with Laban to not do each other harm (<font style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>31:22-32:2<\/em><\/font>).&nbsp; A lot takes place in this week&rsquo;s Parashah.&nbsp; In the opening verses of the Parashah, the Lord speaks to Yaakov in a dream and Yaakov has a vision of angels ascending and descending upon a ladder and of the God of his father in the place called Luz (<font style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>\u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05bc\u05b9\u05d0\u05de\u05b7\u05e8 \u05d0\u05b2\u05e0\u05b4\u05d9 \u05d9\u05b0\u05d4\u05b9\u05d5\u05b8\u05d4 \u05d0\u05b1\u05dc\u05b9\u05d4\u05b5\u05d9 \u05d0\u05b7\u05d1\u05b0\u05e8\u05b8\u05d4\u05b8\u05dd \u05d0\u05b8\u05d1\u05b4\u05d9\u05da\u05b8 \u05d5\u05b5\u05d0\u05dc\u05b9\u05d4\u05b5\u05d9 \u05d9\u05b4\u05e6\u05b0\u05d7\u05b8\u05e7<\/em><\/font>).&nbsp; According to the biblical text, this is the first time that God has spoken to and revealed Himself to Yaakov.&nbsp; As God reveals Himself to Yaakov, He reiterates the covenant that He made with his father&rsquo;s Avraham and Yitzchak (<font style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>\u05d5\u05b0\u05e0\u05b4\u05d1\u05b0\u05e8\u05b0\u05db\u05d5\u05bc \u05d1\u05b0\u05da\u05b8 \u05db\u05bc\u05b8\u05dc-\u05de\u05b4\u05e9\u05c1\u05b0\u05e4\u05bc\u05b0\u05d7\u05b9\u05ea \u05d4\u05b8\u05d0\u05b2\u05d3\u05b8\u05de\u05b8\u05d4 \u05d5\u05bc\u05d1\u05b0\u05d6\u05b7\u05e8\u05b0\u05e2\u05b6\u05da\u05b8<\/em><\/font>).&nbsp; As a result Yaakov renames the place he is laying to be <em>\u05d5\u05b7<font style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u05d9\u05bc\u05b4\u05e7\u05b0\u05e8\u05b8\u05d0 \u05d0\u05b6\u05ea-\u05e9\u05c1\u05b5\u05dd-\u05d4\u05b7\u05de\u05bc\u05b8\u05e7\u05d5\u05b9\u05dd \u05d4\u05b7\u05d4\u05d5\u05bc\u05d0 \u05d1\u05bc\u05b5\u05d9\u05ea-\u05d0\u05b5\u05dc<\/font><\/em> &ldquo;Beit-El&rdquo; (Bethel) meaning &ldquo;House of God&rdquo; because God was in this place and He did not know it (<font style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>\u05d0\u05b8\u05db\u05b5\u05df \u05d9\u05b5\u05e9\u05c1 \u05d9\u05b0\u05d4\u05b9\u05d5\u05b8\u05d4 \u05d1\u05bc\u05b7\u05de\u05bc\u05b8\u05e7\u05d5\u05b9\u05dd \u05d4\u05b7\u05d6\u05bc\u05b6\u05d4 \u05d5\u05b0\u05d0\u05b8\u05e0\u05b9\u05db\u05b4\u05d9 \u05dc\u05b9\u05d0 \u05d9\u05b8\u05d3\u05b8\u05e2\u05b0\u05ea\u05bc\u05b4\u05d9<\/em><\/font>).&nbsp;
